Mercedes-Benz - Jack in the Box A Jack-in-the-box under the hood as a nasty surprise. This was what Sehsucht Studios had to create and they used CINEMA 4D to do it. The aim of this spot is to show that original Mercedes-Benz parts should be used even for pre-owned Mercedes vehicles because the installation of no-name parts can lead to nasty surprises. These nasty surprises were to be symbolized by an evil clown or harlequin. The clown's movement had to be fine-tuned to it looked Organic and dynamic with it's own particular charm - without being exaggerated. This not-so-easy task was mastered by two Sehsucht artists within only three weeks. The Jack in the box was modeled using CINEMA 4D's own modeling tools and the rig, hat and collar were brought into motion using MOCCA. A proprietary "Swing & Damp" plugin was used to create the dynamic movement of the clown's spring. This plugin automatically interpolates various spring properties and offers numerous editable parameters. Even BodyPaint 3D was used in Multibrush mode in the creation of all materials after the basic texture had been created in Adobe Photoshop.
