Funny Frisch "Looks and Tastes Spicy"

Three people, CINEMA 4D and four weeks were enough to create an advert for Funny Frisch potato chips in which a taste explosion turns into a party for everyone.

Sehsucht is a leading studio for the production of original, high-end films for advertising. For the Funny Frisch spot it was a particular challenge to create realistic and delicious-looking potato chips. A dynamic particle animation was also needed that could be integrated well with the film's live footage. The CG potato chips were created using a special Shader in CINEMA 4D, for which actual potato chips were photographed and used as reference. The air bubbles that give the chips their light and volumetric look were created using normal mapping, displacement and translucent Pro.

"Sub-Polygon Displacement, Thinking Particles, Translucent Pro, After Effects export and Shake all played an essential part in getting this spot completed within the allotted time", said Sehsucht's Maurice Panisch. Maurice continues, "Even though an entire day was used to film the chips using a very elaborate process, only the CG chips can be seen in the spot itself."
