CINEMA 4D Prime's powerful tools let you create images and animations suited to any industry. 3D logo, illustrations, buildings, space ships - or whatever you want to create - you can rely on CINEMA 4D Prime.

CINEMA 4D Prime lets you cost-effectively enter the world of 3D. And if you want more advanced tools it’s great to know that you can upgrade to any of the more powerful versions of CINEMA 4D.

Modeling in CINEMA 4D
The first step in most 3D projects is creating the objects.

The most basic shapes are provided in MAXON CINEMA 4D as parametric primitives. Parametric objects can be converted to polygons to serve as a basis for more complex objects. A number of deformers and other generators can be used in conjunction with objects.

Splines can be used as the basis for extrudes, lofts, lathes and sweeps, all of which can be adjusted dynamically in real-time, and even animated.

In Good Shape
CINEMA 4D's comprehensive polygon tools provide real-time feedback. A powerful Knife tool works in conjunction with N-gons to easily cut holes, planes and paths into objects. The Stitch and Sew tool makes it easy to close holes between objects. With the Brush and Magnet tools you can easily paint point deformations for more Organic objects.

Whether your scenes are real-world or out-of-this-world, CINEMA 4D's powerful modeling tools provide the building blocks for your imagination.

UV Editing
MAXON's CINEMA 4D features an arsenal of UV editing solutions that ensure your models and their materials line up properly. UV coordinates are essential to successful painting and quality texturing in 3D.

Whether adjusting UVs for a low-res game model or a high-res matte painting, CINEMA 4D provides the UV tools you can count on when the UV mapping is not as perfect as the model you have built.

Creating Materials in CINEMA 4D
Whether it's artificial or natural materials you are creating, CINEMA 4D's material system provides incredible control over the Surface properties of your 3D objects.

The basis for most channels is a texture or Shader. For textures, CINEMA 4D supports most popular image formats including layered PSD files.

A wide range of 2D and 3D volumetric Shaders make it easy to create procedural Surfaces and easily simulate glass, wood or metal. With filter and layer shaders you can easily combine images, Shaders and filter effects.

3D Painting
MAXON's CINEMA 4D offers the ultimate control over your textures with complete layer, filter and tablet support - all optimized for working in 3D.

With CINEMA 4D you can paint on up to ten channels with a single stroke. A brush can define an entire material rather than a single color, and CINEMA 4D's exclusive RayBrush technology lets you view the results of your painting in real-time in a rendered image.

CINEMA 4D's Projection Painting tool lets you paint across UV seams or even multiple objects in a scene.

Projection Man
Projection Man revolutionizes the workflow for creating digital mattes, making it simple to set up an initial painting and even easier to patch the matte when necessary. Using CINEMA 4D's internal painting tools or Adobe Photoshop it's easy to edit and manipulate extensive digital mattes, making it possible to create extended, wild camera rides. Whether you're ballooning over a city, shooting through rapids, flying off cliffs or simply creating a basic set extension, you'll be amazed at the power and speed of the Projection Man matte painting workflow.

Graphics in Motion
Shift your scenes into the 4th dimension with MAXON's CINEMA 4D. Building professional 3D animation has never been easier and more intuitive.

Virtually any object, material or tag parameter can be keyframed by simply clicking the animation circle next to its name. To make keyframing even simpler you can activate automatic keyframing of all or selected parameters. The Power Slider lets you quickly define keyframes of the current state at any frame and modify existing keyframes without leaving the default layout.

The Timeline
The Timeline window offers even greater control, offering tracks for every animatable parameter and options like layers to organize and control the visibility of objects, tracks and keyframes. Master Tracks allow easy manipulation of all keyframes attached to a given object or scene and the Region tool helps you easily move or scale any portion of your animation.

Use F-Curve mode for more detailed adjustment of keyframe interpolation, or to simply view the animation. Edit multiple curves instantly and take advantage of the snapshot capability to view a previously stored curve while adjusting the animation.

Non-Linear Animation
With non-linear animation it's easy to build, layer and loop discreet motions containing hundreds of keyframes in complex hierARChies. You can easily block out animation based on predefined motions and build upon the basic movement by overlaying additional keyframes or motions.

Audio Support
When your pictures need to sync with audio you can import sound and view its waveform directly in the Timeline. Better yet, activate scrubbing and listen to your audio as you manipulate the time slider. For the ultimate syncronization, attach sounds to specific objects.

CINEMA 4D even features an easy-to-use particle system. Any object can be used as a particle - such as geometry or lights. Particles can then be affected by various effects like gravity, turbulence, wind and many others to create stunning animations.

Let There be Light
CINEMA 4D offers a complete array of gaffer's tools so you can make your scene outshine the competition.

Light up your scenes with CINEMA 4D's lighting system and produce outstanding results in little time with the built-in render engine.

Various types of light and shadow calculations provide the basis for an extraordinarily powerful lighting system. Control color, brightness, falloff and other properties and adjust density and color of each light's shadows. You also can use Lumen or Candela brightness values for any light rather than using abstract percentage values. Create visible or volumetric lights with noise patterns that appear in the light cone. Lights offer settings such as contrast, lens reflexes, Shadow color, volumetric light and noise, and many more.

Ambient Occlusion
Ambient Occlusion (the blocking of ambient light by neighboring Surfaces) is a method with which realistic Shadows in corners or between nearby objects can be quickly rendered. Ambient Occlusion can be implemented either as a Shader per material or for the entire scene at once.

CINEMA 4D's outstanding renderer delivers great-looking results in short time thanks to its linear workflow, support for multiple processors, HyperThreading and Multicore technology.

With CINEMA 4D's Multi-Pass rendering you can easily render color, Shadow, reflection and other effects to individual files for tweaking using your favorite compositing application. Multiple object-based alpha channels make it easy to layer elements with other 2D and 3D assets. With direct export to Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Combustion, Shake, Fusion and Motion your Multi-Pass layers will be ready to composite in no time. CINEMA 4D supports rendering in 16-bit and 32-bit color depth for high dynamics range images in DPX, HDRI or OpenEXR format.

Furthermore, the support of color profiles makes sure your renderings appear as they should, no matter which device you're working with.

File Exchange
"Man is not an island" and neither is MAXON's CINEMA 4D. Because real-world 3D artists do not work in a vacuum, CINEMA 4D includes support for a host of industry-standard file formats.

CINEMA 4D renders passes in any desired format (image sequences, AVIs or QuickTime movies) and creates a compositing project file that automatically brings all sequences together in the correct format. Depending on the compositing application used, additional data such as 3D cameras, 3D lights or reference objects will be exported as well.

New Features in CINEMA 4D Prime R13
CINEMA 4D Prime R13 offers numerous new functions for novices and professionals alike. New animation and modeling tools help you achieve even better results.

With many improvements and enhancements to the user interface and workflow, with enhanced Shaders, improved import functionality, stereoscopic rendering, new Picture Viewer features, a reworked Timeline and much more, CINEMA 4D Prime R13 offers the ideal introduction to the world of professional 3D software.

Create eye-popping stereo 3D visuals using the complete stereoscopic workflow in CINEMA 4D Release 13. Easily convert existing projects or create new stereo scenes using a few simple camera settings, and preview the stereo effect within the Viewport. Render the merged image or individual channels and preview the stereo effect within CINEMA 4D’s Picture Viewer.

Stereo Camera and Rendering
A few simple settings convert any CINEMA 4D camera into a stereo rig. Simply enable one of the stereo modes, define the eye-separation and convergence, and choose between parallel, off-axis, on-axis or radial placement. Safe regions can be defined manually or defined automatically by CINEMA 4D.

Real-time Stereo Display
Preview stereo effects in real-time by enabling the Stereoscopic mode for any view. Stereo previews can be displayed in Anaglyph, Side-by-Side, Interlaced or Active Shutter mode for compatibility with a variety of 3D monitors, projectors and glasses.

More New Stuff
Many minor improvements and new functions make working with CINEMA 4D R13 easier when rendering. For example, the new Far Clipping camera parameter: Use it to define a clipping plane behind which Project elements will be hidden; or the new anti-aliasing filter options that give you ultimate control over smoothing in your renderings; or the new physically correct Fresnel effect, which adds a new dimension when rendering reflections!

Rotation Order and Gimballing Rotation Axis

Easily detect and correct Gimbal lock with the new Gimballing Rotation axis mode and user-defined rotation order. The Gimballing axis adjusts the orientation of individual rotation bands to display the actual plane of rotation. You can often avoid Gimbal lock by specifying the rotation order individually for each object prior to animating. Simply cycle between each of the rotation order options and use the Gimballing display to see how they affect the rotation.

Better Handling of Timeline Markers
Organize your animation more efficiently in R13 thanks to enhancements to Timeline markers. Each marker now includes a Notes field that can include explanatory text and you can quickly re-name markers by double-clicking them in the Timeline. Even better, multiple markers can now be selected and manipulated as a group, and markers can be manipulated in C++ plug-ins or Python scripts.

Finely-Tuned F-Curves
Precisely edit Function curves with new options for manipulating keyframe tangents. A new option is available for locking the visual angle between tangents, as well as commands for matching the length or angle of the left and right tangents. You can now reset the tangent length and angle more quickly via a command rather than a toggle. Manipulating F-Curves is also more intuitive since the Viewport now interactively updates to show the result of the change.

Colored Animation Path
Visualize the movement of selected objects more easily using colored animation paths. You can now easily distinguish between the animation paths of multiple selected objects because the layer color of the track or object is automatically applied to the path display within the view.

Optimized Modeling Workflow
CINEMA 4D R13 contains numerous tweaks and improvements for modeling. Whether you want to modify a row of points of a particular polygon, for example to achieve a Matrix extrude effect, or if you want to take advantage of the optimized workflow to work faster using hotkeys, you'll soon wonder how you ever got along without these new features!

Clone and Extrude Easily
Easily copy selected objects by simply holding the Cmd/Ctrl key as you drag out a duplicate. Pressing Cmd/Ctrl while dragging polygons and edges allows you to quickly perform an extrusion. Shift+dragging at any time while moving elements within the view allows you to constrain movement to a single axis.

Advanced Selecting Tools
New features for selecting make modeling in CINEMA 4D even easier. Simply double-click on any single edge to select a loop of connected edges. Edge loops are essential for use in modeling, Spline creation or joint placement. With a mesh containing several disconnected polygon groups you can quickly select each group by simply double-clicking on any single polygon within the given group.

Optimized HyperNURBS Weighting
The HyperNURBS object features a new, faster subdiVision Surface algorithm that offers better weighting. You can now get Sharp but smooth creases with clean, continuous transitions between individually weighting points, edges and polygons. The HyperNURBS object now handles N-Gons better, correctly subdividing around holes and subdividing the UV coordinates.

Axis Toggle
Axis modification now works as a toggle and allows you to quickly snap the object axis in Object and Model modes, or the modeling axis in Component modes to any point, edge or polygon. This makes it easy to define the origin for rotate and scale operations and works with improved snapping to more accurately position elements.

Convert Polygon Groups to Objects
Easily expand disconnected polygon groups into separate objects with this new command in Release 13. This command works specifically on polygon objects and places each sub-object as a Child of the original, so you can quickly split models that are imported as a single connected object.

Auto Tweak Elements
In Release 13 you can quickly tweak individual objects or components without selecting them first. Tweaking is now enabled automatically whenever there is no selection, eliminating the need for separate modes. Simply click and drag on any element to start moving it with ease. A single click and drag is all that’s necessary to select and move components and fine-tune your scene.

With enhanced axis snapping in Release 13 you can quickly position objects and components in relation to other elements within the scene. Cmd/Ctrl+right+click on an axis handle lets you reposition that handle and snap it to any Surface. Once you begin moving, scaling or rotating the selected elements, an infinite axis guide will appear that allows you to use virtually any element as a guide for snapping.

Variable-Speed Scaling
Resize elements precisely thanks to variable-speed scaling in R13. You can click different areas of the Scale tool’s axis stem to define the speed. Click near the object’s origin to scale quickly, or further away for more precise scaling. If you click the axis handle at the end of the stem, the scaling directly relates to the movement of the mouse.

Interface and Workflow
Things Get Even Easier

Professionals and novices alike will value the new, well-structured workflow and interface functionality in CINEMA 4D R13. Complete your projects faster and more effectively thanks to CINEMA 4D R13's numerous improvements and optimized workflow.

Whether with the optimized camera behavior in the 3D Viewport – which eases orientation and movement through the Project – or the out-of-view indicator, which shows you the direction in which a selected object lies outside of the current view.

The user interface has also received a comprehensive makeover, ranging from tabs that can be arranged vertically, commands that can be executed with preset parameters, and Project files with preview images to font selection with matching previews and the ability to assign names to Viewports.

XRefs - Make your work flow with the ultimate collaboration tool
CINEMA 4D R13 features an all new external referencing system that provides a framework for outstanding collaboration and organization. XRef objects and materials now appear directly within the master Project and can be manipulated, animated and referenced directly within Expressions and Link fields. You can define whether animation, materials or point caches are imported from the referenced file and enable modification of the PSR, parameters, hierARChy or User Data of referenced objects within the master file.

Within the XRef Manager you can quickly view all the files referenced within the Project and easily select any of the objects, tags and materials within those files.

New Import/Export Features
"Man is not an island" and neither is MAXON's CINEMA 4D R13, which comes with enhanced and improved import/export features.

After Effects Integration
CINEMA 4D’s revolutionary After Effects integration now converts the Stage object to an After Effects camera. Drop-frame NTSC frame rates of 29.97 are now supported, and Timeline markers from CINEMA 4D now appear in the After Effects comp. Individual channels of a stereo render appear as separate comps that can be easily integrated with the 3D Glasses effect in CS5.5.

FBX Import / Export
CINEMA 4D now supports the 2010, 2011 and 2012 versions of FBX, offering much greater compatibility with 3rd-party applications. Normals can be converted to a Phong tag with edge breaks on import, and are properly exported from CINEMA 4D. There are new options for reducing keyframes during both the import and export processes.

Multi-Channel OpenEXR
Multi-Pass renders can now be stored as multiple channels within a single OpenEXR file, simplifying file structures and enhancing the pipeline with compositing apps such as Nuke. OpenEXR also supports two new 4-by+4 pixel lossy compression modes.

Enhanced Sound Format Support
CINEMA 4D R13 includes a new sound sub-system that utilizes QuickTime to import many more sound formats, including AIF, MP3 and AAC files. It is now easier than ever before to load audio files for use in lip-sync animation or as inputs to the MoGraph Sound Effector.

COLLADA 1.5 Support
CINEMA 4D R13 now supports COLLADA 1.5, for enhanced compatibility with other applications. You can import both v1.4 and v1.5 files and can export to COLLADA version 1.4 or 1.5 via separate menu entries.

Maya and BodyPaint 3D
UV coordinates may now be edited as long as they have no "construction history".
