Editing Environment

iClone Content Conversion
Import and convert 3DS, OBJ, SKP, FBX & BVH files into iClone. Converted files retain 3D mesh, node relation, texture, material, skin-bone rigging, and animation data. Load iClone content for further editing - object separation, build model hierARChy for animation, merge props, add custom material, or re-arrange perform animation list.

Scene Tree & HierARChy
Directly CTRL-click on target elements, or box select for multiple items. Super-fast item grouping, and further scene tree hierARChy management. View the polygon count information for select items right on-top.

Create Animation-ready Content
Reset group and pivots for sub-prop animation such as car wheels or robot arms. Convert skinned-bone human to iClone motion-ready characters for Kinect mocap, puppeteering or Human IK editing, or convert animals to non-human creatures for FK/IK motion editing and make everything ready for animation.

Real-time Motion Preview
With the built-in motion player, you can easily preview the embedded motion data in your character or prop. You may also apply preset motions to calibrate results. The motion data can be easily found in the perform menu list for quick and easy management.

iClone & 3DXchange AppLink
3DXchange5 now works seamlessly with iClone5! With the AppLink function, you can quickly bring characters and animations from 3DXchange5 to iClone5 by simply clicking on the "Apply to iClone" button. This gives you a quick way to transfer data between these two applications.

Re-edit iClone Content
Character Sculpting & Painting

Export OBJ from iClone for external tools like Photoshop CS4, ZBrush, Mudbox and others. Replace 3D avatar bodyparts with newly shaped models, detailed normal maps and textures.

Head Morph Generation
Build a custom head morph target using 3D sculpting tools, and then reload the finished OBJ as a new custom morph target which can be applied to any iClone 3D character equipped with a G5 head.

Material &UV Refinement
Complete material editing features include multiple texture channels, UV offset, UV tiling, opacity level, specularity, glossiness, ambient and diffuse color. Add textured UVs to imported models without prior UV assignment, or customize UV to selected object with assigned UV types. This allows you to refine the texture layout before exporting to iClone.

10X Loading Speed Using External Texture
To better process character data inside 3DXchange5, now you can import a character file (like FBX) into 3DXchange5 and then automatically assign a folder to place the required character embedded textures, in order to make the character data lighter for faster characterization and motion editing.

Character Conversion
Bring in Any Character Ready for iClone Animation

With the built-in characterization panel, users may convert external characters into iClone via FBX format. This means that the newly converted characters will be able to work with thousands of iClone motion files, and use powerful motion tools like body puppeteering, MixMoves and Kinect mocap to animate any character from DAZ, Maya, 3ds Max and others in a heartbeat!

One-click Characterization
3DXchange5 provides preset bone templates for standard bone characters from DAZ4 Genesis, 3ds Max Biped, and Maya Human IK so that you can do auto rigging in just one click. You may also save your own preset templates for quick rigging later.

Motion Conversion
Unlimited Motions for iClone Characters

3DXchange5 allows you to convert external motion data into iClone via FBX/BVH format. This means that you will be able to bring in motion data from any motion library, popular motion editing tools or life-like motion capture for use with iClone standard characters. These motion data can also be further edited or refined using iClone's powerful Human IK motion editing tools.

Motion Calibration Using T-pose
To convert a character or motion into iClone or optimize the posture before the final import, you need to prepare a standard T-Pose for the character first. 3DXchange5 provides preset T-poses for popular rig like DAZ4 Genesis, 3ds Max Biped, and Maya Human IK bone characters. For characters or motions using custom bone rig, you may also switch to orthogonal view with wall grid and rotation snap to make your custom T-pose. You can save your own T-pose setting as a template for future use.

Posture Refinement
Once bone mapping is finished, you may need to do further floor contact and feet/hip offsets. Floor contact will ensure that your character stands firmly and naturally on the ground; feet offset will determine the spacing between your two feet and the distance from the ground; hip offset can make your character lean forward or backward and fine tune the posture balance.

Batch Motion Conversion
3DXchange5 allows for batch data conversion. After you finish the characterization process, simply drag in multiple motion data to the motion library and then export them from the perform list. Your motions will be available in iClone's Content Manager or saved as Persona motions inside the right-click menu of your characters.

Prop Conversion
Build Your Props & Scenes with External Modeling Tools

Extend iClone with 3D modeling and content editing using Google™ Sketchup and other 3D modeling tools. You can build custom 3D models using line, ARC, rectangle, push/pull tools or easily customize downloaded models from the Google 3D warehouse with any external modeling tools via 3DS, OBJ, and SKP formats.

The most classic and exciting feature of 3DXchange allows you to get free access to millions of 3D models for prop and scene creation. Press the Google 3D Warehouse button to search and import native Google SKP models directly from the 3D Warehouse. Separate objects, edit model hierARChy, build parent-child model relation, rename objects, exclude unwanted parts, turn on/off a selected tree, or output selected objects for further animation control.

Gizmo for Pivot Setting
Select any object in a model and set a custom pivot point that controls the object rotation behavior. One simple click sets the pivot point to the object's center. Now you can enjoy precision pivot adjustments & rotation previews with 3DXchange5.

Reset Transform & Alignment
Once you have a model tweaked with your edits including model resizing, rotation and location change; Zero Transformation can reset the transform values to let your new model shape become 0,0,0 or a base value. This makes newly created content much easier to control from a simple numerical base value.

iProp Motion Preview & Collect Clips
Create animation segments using timeline in-and-out marks, and convert them into iMotion data. Created motion clips will also appear in the right-click perform menu for iClone interactive playback.
