Vizard Complete Characters
Vizard Complete Characters is a library of 100 realistic human 3D Characters, especially created for realtime environments like computer games, simulations and other virtual worlds.

All characters have a bone skeleton and skinning which is adapted for the use in realtime engines. The skin weights are set exclusively on vertex basis. Each of the 100 Characters comes in 3 different polycounts (600, 2500 and 5000 triangle polygons), so they can be utilized for different purposes. See table for details.

Meshes
3D Models

3D Models come in 3ds Max format. It is compatible and fully functional down to version 5 of 3ds Max. Each of the 100 Characters comes in 3 different polycounts (600, 2500 and 5000 triangle polygons), so they can be utilized for different purposes.

All characters have a bone skeleton and skinning which is adapted for the use in realtime engines. The skin weights are set exclusively on vertex basis. See table above for details. The inside of the mouth is also modelled and textured for the medium and high poly versions of the characters, so a facial animation setup can be realized if required.

UV mapping technique
In the picture you can see how the UV coordinates are set up for the 3D Models. To save texture memory, it is also possible to use only one half of the texture and mirror the UV mapping to both sides of the mesh. All 100 characters have a very similar mapping segmentation of UV coordinates, which makes it easy to interchange parts of the different texture elements.

Textures
Texture Maps

Texture maps have been designed to create a photorealistic impression of human characters. As the textures are included in a high resolution and uncompressed format, they can be customized to meet the requirements of various kinds of applications.

Layers
Each texture comes as a 2048×2048 pixel PSD file whose layers are not collapsed. Texture elements like hair, skin, cloth color, cloth structure, drape/folding, joints, buttons, logos, addons, etc. are arranged on separate layers. This means that the character texture can easily be modified and customized. The results will be unique characters for a small investment of work. The animation shows this feature exemplified by a section of a trousers texture.

Normal maps
Each texture has an additional normal bump map in 2048×2048 pixel size. The normal maps have been created in Photoshop with a technique of mixing high polygon sources and converting layers of greyscale height maps. Each texture also has an additional specular map in 2048×2048 pixel size

Animations
100 animations files in Character Studio BIP format are included in the library. They consist of animation clips and loops commonly used in realtime applications and games. The keyframe animations are optimized for better performance and easy modification.
