VR4MAX Generator
The complete toolkit to create VR applications
VR4MAX Generator consists of two modules:
• Translator is the Autodesk 3ds Max plug-in that provides the tools to fully prepare your models within the 3ds Max environment, including helpers to create animations, event actions etc. Also a physics engine and a script engine are available. When you are done, simply export your model to VR and one comprehensive .vmx file is created containing all models, materials and interactivity. 3ds Max users appreciate the familiar authoring environment and the easy workflow from model to VR.
• Navigator Pro is the VR environment to navigate and interact with your models, including useful features like navigation modes, view and camera settings, terrain following, deflection, stereoscopic rendering, redlining, atmosphere system and more.
Smooth integration in 3ds Max
VR4MAX is a plug in Autodesk 3ds Max and is specially developed for 3ds Max users taking the step to VR. Those familiar with 3ds Max will enjoy the intuitive way VR4MAX functionality is integrated in the 3ds Max environment. You can prepare your scene completely in 3ds Max and convert it to VR in one easy step.
Render engine
The Render Engine is the core of all VR4MAX products and gets the most out of your system’s graphics hardware. Multi-core cpu support and OpenGL vertex and pixel shaders ensure an optimal graphics quality and maximize frames per second.
Product presentations
Interactive presentations are a great way to communicate your concepts and designs. VR4MAX is the most efficient tool to turn your static 3d content into virtual reality models. During the process of content creation VR4MAX saves valuable time and enables communication of concepts at an early stage.
Large models
VR4MAX supports the largest and most complex models while maintaining high graphics quality and performance. VR4MAX contains several easy tools to optimize your scenes. For large models the 64-bit version is recommended.
Fully integrated ODE physics engine
Bring your VR world to life by adding rigid body dynamics to your model without any programming involved. Using VR4MAX helpers in 3ds Max you can add rigid bodies to your design, specify physical properties such as mass and damping. Then link them together with all kinds of joints (ball, sliding, universal, angular motor, etc), setup their geometric representation for the fully integrated collision detection system (supporting friction, bouncing, etc), and your simulation is ready for action. Simply export your design to the VR4MAX virtual environment and your model will come to life.
Advanced peripherals
VR4MAX supports advanced peripherals such as stereoscopic shutter glasses and head mounted displays. In the optional Advanced Device Configurator, in addition VRCO Trackd is supported, the standard device software to connect a wide range of input controllers, such as pointing- and 3D motion tracking devices.
Object tree and redlining
Accurately evaluate and annotate your work-in-progress with the object tree and redlining. The object tree facilitates navigation through the components and lets you manipulate the hierarchic structure of your model. Redlining allows you to attach notes to objects for later evaluation. Selected components are highlighted in both representations.
Stereoscopic rendering
VR4MAX supports most of the advanced stereoscopic formats, including:
– Red/cyan and red/green stereo
– Passive stereo (incl. DTI)
– Active stereo(incl. Stereographics/REALD)
– Horizontal and vertical interlaced stereo (incl. SeeReal)
Atmosphere system
With the Atmosphere System you can enrich your models with stunning skies and highly realistic weather conditions, including clouds, precipitation and wind. “Localized lighting” ensures accurately computed lighting conditions and positions of celestial bodies based on time of day and location on earth. In addition, physically realistic outdoor lighting influences are added based on the selected weather conditions.
Script engine
The LUA script engine provides a flexible way to perform custom actions that go beyond standard event action functionality. Usage examples are access to and writing to files, applying properties based on calculations, record simulated movements etc. etc.
Add virtual objects or animations to the real world with AR
Interactively integrate and project 3D models and simulations into the real world with ‘Augmented Reality’ (AR). AR enables you to evaluate 3D designs in their real environment and lets you visualize internal aspects, structures or data of existing situations superimposed over the real world. AR for VR4MAX works with standard, ‘off-the-shelf’, equipment. A web cam in combination with a Head Mounted Display (HMD) connected to a standard PC or laptop is all you need to interact with your model in augmented reality. AR for VR4MAX® uses simple, square markers (set of 12 unique dynamic markers) to identify and correctly project your 3D model into the real world.
