Killzone 2
Xsens MVN used for development of first person shooter Killzone 2
Developed by Guerrilla Games, Killzone 2 is the critically acclaimed first person shooter created exclusively for PLAYSTATION 3. The sequel brings players into a highly detailed, ultra-realistic theatre of war that truly leverages the processing power of the PS3 system.
Flexibility and quick turnaround times
Guerrilla Games has integrated Xsens MVN into their pipeline for the development of Killzone 2 because of its flexibility and quick turnaround time. MVN allows character animators to try out things quickly. The animators were capturing motions in their own office in the morning, to have them in the game in the afternoon. This allowed the team to make the creative decisions back at their studio in Amsterdam. Mockup of scenes and its motions were created before going to a motion capture studio to capture the full performance of full body, face and hands. The result was clear in that the team came very well prepared to the motion capture studio and used their time more efficiently.
