Preparation for IROS
Madrid, 3rd October 2018 -- Qualisys, the leading provider of precision motion capture technology, has teamed up with Bitcraze to offer a total motion tracking solution for Crazyflie drones.

The two companies will be co-exhibiting the solution at IROS 2018 in Madrid this week. The event is the flagship international conference for the robotics industry and expects to welcome more than 3000 delegates during five days of workshops, robotic challenges and live demos.

Bitcraze is the leading provider of open source quadcopter drones for universities and research institutions. They are innovators in drone technology and specialize in open source development, creating a support infrastructure that enables end users to modify the Crazyflie in any way they want. At the time of its conception in 2011, the Crazyflie was the smallest quadcopter in the world, and it is now one of the most popular and adaptable drones available.

Qualisys provides advanced systems for optical motion capture measurement and analysis within the sports, medical, industrial and research sectors, making the company a perfect fit for Crazyflie’s agility and versatility.

At IROS 2018, the theme is “Towards a Robotic Society”, and in keeping with this idea, Bitcraze will attempt a “crazyswarm” with six Crazyflies flying in formation using a motion capture system from Qualisys.

Bitcraze and Qualisys have built the Qualisys Motion Capture system directly into the Crazyflie eco-system, meaning the Crazyswarm project now supports positioning technology from Qualisys out of the box.

The collaboration between the two companies will also provide easy-to-use marker tracking on drones, with the first product - "Qualisys Mocapdeck" - available on the Bitcraze webshop now and more products to follow.

Qualisys and Bitcraze will be at Booth #91 at IROS 2018 from October 2-4.As well as the Crazyswarm display, there will be a demonstration of the Loco positioning system and new exciting products and technologies revealed.
